While promoting awareness of the “Golden Age of Bands” (1880 – 1930), when American instrumental bands were emerging in local towns, this performance will pay tribute to the community bands who would welcome visitors as they would arrive at the beach. Fast forwarding to today, The Wildwoods of New Jersey have continued to be a special designation for many and this performance is designed to support community band appreciation and provide high quality music making opportunities by the sea.
Any brass, woodwind, and percussion instrumentalists, regardless of age and ability, can participate in the community band. Instrumentalists will rehearse together prior to the performance and will be provided music one month before the event. Of course audience members are very welcome to watch!
